We did function – I just lost the plot and kept no records! Our topics were:
Q1 Jan-March 2024
Here is what I have come up with for the first quarter – January, February, and March:
1. Junk mail – use those advertisements that come in the mail that we toss right into the recycle bin usually. Maybe you do not get junk mail. If that is the case then use magazine advertisements to create your ATCs. Jacki Long, a California artist, is a master at using junk mail. Look her up, she has a daily blog.
2. Gelli plate your ATC….figure out how you can do a background on the gelli plate; then create a middle ground using the gelli plate; and finally figure out a way to use the gelli to help you with the foreground.
3. Your own idea
Q2 April-June 2024
- Create an ATC that opens up somehow. It should be folded to the normal ATC size of 2.5 x 3.5 inches for mailing purposes, but it should expand to a larger size. That can mean either expanding to 3D or continue to be 2D.
- As usual you can choose your own theme.
(I did A5 jazz drawings cut up into puzzle pieces ATC size)
Q3 JULY-SEPTEMBER 2024
You get to do whatever you want to do for the quarter. Try out something new or something old. You are the boss on this one.
(I did chopped up paintings to find nice bits.)
Q4 OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2024
Memories
A memoriam ATC can be honouring anyone or anything. Someone might
want to remember a pet for instance.
I recalled the amazing collection of bearded irises I had at one time.
Q1 JANUARY-MARCH 2025
What can be more accurate than nature. Fires, floodings and storms and drought.
So definitely nature.

Members offered different ideas and I combined Nature and Myths and looked for 6 British trees with special myths attached to them. These were: ash, blackthorn, hawthorn, oak, rowan, yew. Once again I forgot to photograph my collection…

QII APRIL-JUNE 2025
Our leader suggests: So it is time to be thinking about quarter two and another ATC. I have been looking on Pinterest and came up with an idea for us. There are so many art techniques that I would like to try so why not try a new technique that you have wanted to do but have not or find one on Pinterest. Create your ATC using that technique or maybe even more than one technique. Please let us know the technique and give us a link to where you found it when you send off your ATCs.
Of course if you wish to go off in your own direction and totally create something else please feel free to do just that.
