October theme: either A Study in Scarlet or Symmetry
ATC – these are Artists’ Trading Cards and measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches.
I chose the first option.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the story with this title in 1886, and it was published the next year. The book’s title derives from a speech given by Sherlock Holmes to Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story’s murder investigation as his “study in scarlet”: “There’s the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.” [quote from Wikipedia]
On my ATCs are: the famous house number for Holmes and Watson of 221B, the year the story was written – 1886, a wedding ring which was a clue, the magnifying glass which appeared first in this book, and the scarlet thread.
