Taken part in one of the workshops organised by Carla Sonheim: From Sketchbook to Story with Joe Rosshirt. I chose to work with Procreate on my iPad as I really need the practice. Maybe could have followed the instructions better using pencil and paint…

Enjoyed another visit to the Towner for Margaret Mellis – loved the constructions particularly. Amazing how many different colours she managed to find on her scavenging trips.

A visit to the Towner to see the John Nash exhibition – such a variety of media. The wartime paintings reminded me of a sad story of an artist who had seen the Somme and then went to New Zealand to begin a new life and job only to see burnt trees where land was being cleared which caused a breakdown and he had to abandon the scheme.
Another gallery allowing immediate entry to Friends is the Hastings Contemporary and the seaside exhibition is extensive and varied – great fun.
Tate Britain is still demanding exact entry times, booking and following the trails. It is rather tedious. However it is interesting to see the very large works included in the current exhibition of Paula Rego’s work which other galleries might find it hard to display. I enjoyed anew the smaller nursery rhyme etchings and her sketches.
