The procession
Can two be a procession? You have to imagine the rest! I just fell in love with the tiny figure on the right who appeared out of nowhere.
This is one of my pictures for the Tunbridge Wells International Art Fair 24-26 June 2016 (to be shown there by Redleaf Gallery).
The image is 8×10 inches (20×25 cms) approx. and is a mixed media painting.
Mutual support
A strange lady, a strange pet – but they get on!
Some lovely person liked it enough to purchase it! I think that person is a good vibes character.
‘Brave’ surprises for the tutor!
Pip Harrison (my co-author on the fairy tales) and I went to a workshop led by Jane Moran at Pallant House (Plait-Weave-Play). Here are our creations.
Pip also made a ‘Useful Pot to Keep [very light] Things In’ – maybe dreams…
Maybe it’s a pobble

Another weird fantasy set of creatures pulled out of random marks.
The lady ventriloquist
She holds her dummy close even while she isn’t speaking. An unlikely subject which appeared out of my collage. Image 10×8 inches (25×20 cm).
Yes, it does!
But who cares. If you like it, wear it.
River by my door
Sadly I started this 10×8 inch picture on too many varieties of oriental tissue so it was impossible to flatten it out – hence the wrinkles that persist! Otherwise I was pleased with it!
Pick and mix
This is just the beginning of the piece. At lesson 23, the year’s work is nearly done. It’s been brilliant! Year of the Spark has followed Year of the Fairy Tale – both with Carla Sonheim. This year Lynn Whipple has provided half the lessons. Super mix of talents.
I kid myself it now looks a teeny weeny bit like an Egyptian tomb wall – I shall call the bathing belle Nefertiti.
Next year it will be Y is for Yellow. Watch this space…
Dotty diva
Is she blushing or having a quiet cough in the wings? Quirky figure collage. Image measures 8×10 inches (20×25.5 cm).
Boulder folk

A woman’s face. Her expression is sad, lost in her own thoughts maybe. An experimental collage which seems to be complete at this stage. I like it anyway!

Face of man
Experimental painting: blind contour drawing of a man’s face done with monotype and then mounted on a textured background. Couldn’t think of anything to do next so in the ‘look at later’ pile! Image 8×10 inches (20×25.5 cm)
Grebe
One of those splodges of paint which suddenly turned into a recognisable bird! I couldn’t bear to add to it in case the grebe disappeared again. Image 8×10 inches (20×25.5 cm). Just another for the drawer…
Sweet sugar dumpling
One of a recent series of figures outlined with heavy black. I love the way the bright colours look like traditional stained glass. I remember dancing to this song way back… Didn’t want to offend with the real title!
